Personal information you disclose includes:

  • Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number, and organization affiliation.
  • Account credentials and security information, including passwords, authentication tokens, or multi-factor prompts so you can sign in securely.
  • Profile details like your role, community affiliations, photos, bios, and notification preferences.
  • Content you submit, including posts, attachments, survey responses, and messages sent to our support team.

We also automatically gather limited technical data whenever you visit our website or use our mobile applications.

Automatically collected data includes:

  • Device and browser characteristics (IP address, device identifiers, operating system, language, hardware, and preferred settings).
  • Usage data describing how you interact with the platform, including pages viewed, features used, timestamps, referrers, and diagnostic logs.
  • Approximate location inferred from your IP address to keep experiences compliant with regional regulations.
  • Cookie identifiers and similar technologies that remember your session, preferences, and opt-out choices.

No surprise sources

We do not purchase lists or combine your profile with unrelated third-party databases. If we ever need information from another source, we will be transparent and obtain permission where required.

02

How do we use your information?

We use the information we collect to deliver the services you requested and to keep LiteByte communities healthy.

Typical uses include:

  • Providing the platform functionality you sign up for, creating accounts, and enabling publishing workflows.
  • Personalizing feeds, recommendations, and notifications so important updates surface quickly.
  • Communicating with you about product improvements, feature launches, billing, surveys, and responding to support inquiries.
  • Monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing analytics that help us improve the experience.
  • Protecting against fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms, and enforcing community standards.

We only process personal information when we have a clear and legitimate reason to do so and follow regional requirements.

03

What legal bases do we rely on to process information?

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another region with data protection laws, LiteByte relies on the legal bases below when processing personal information.

  • Performance of a contract: processing is necessary to provide the services you request, such as maintaining your account.
  • Legitimate interests: we process limited data to operate, secure, and improve LiteByte in a way that does not override your rights.
  • Consent: we rely on your consent for optional activities, for example marketing subscriptions or beta research, and you may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligations: we may need to retain or disclose data to meet regulatory, tax, or law-enforcement requirements.
  • Vital interests: in rare situations we may process data to help prevent harm to a person.
04

When and with whom do we share personal information?

We share personal information only with parties that help us run LiteByte or when the law requires it.

We may disclose information to:

  • Service providers that host infrastructure or deliver analytics, customer support, email, or payment processing.
  • Professional advisors and auditors who help us stay compliant with legal and financial regulations.
  • Business partners, resellers, or integration partners when you direct us to connect your LiteByte account with their services.
  • Law enforcement or regulators when required to comply with legal process or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LiteByte, our users, or others.
  • Relevant parties in a corporate transaction such as a merger, financing, or acquisition, subject to appropriate confidentiality safeguards.

No selling of personal data

LiteByte does not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers for their independent marketing.

05

Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

LiteByte uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to keep the product reliable and to remember your preferences.

These technologies help us:

  • Stay secure by authenticating sessions and preventing fraudulent activity.
  • Measure engagement so we can understand which features are most helpful.
  • Remember your preferences, such as language, accessibility, or notification settings.

You can adjust cookie settings within your browser or mobile operating system. Rejecting certain cookies may limit parts of the experience, but core functionality will continue to work.

06

How long do we keep your information?

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Active account data is stored while you or your organization use LiteByte.
  • Support, billing, and compliance records are retained according to legal, tax, and audit requirements.
  • When data is no longer needed, we delete it or irreversibly anonymize it.

If deletion is not immediately possible, such as when information resides in backups, we securely store the data and isolate it from any further processing until removal becomes feasible.

07

How do we keep your information safe?

We apply organizational and technical safeguards to protect the personal information we handle.

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest for sensitive records.
  • Role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication, and background checks for employees who need system access.
  • Continuous monitoring, logging, and alerting that help identify suspicious behavior.
  • Documented incident response procedures and regular security training for the LiteByte team.

Despite our best efforts, no online platform can guarantee absolute security. We will notify you of any data breach that affects you in accordance with applicable laws.

08

Do we collect information from minors?

LiteByte is intended for use by schools, teams, and community organizations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or 16 in certain regions).

If you believe that a child provided information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take steps to delete the data.

09

Controls for Do-Not-Track features

Some browsers and mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (DNT) feature or setting you can activate to signal that you prefer privacy. Because there is not yet a common industry standard, LiteByte does not currently respond to DNT signals.

We will review and update this notice if a standard for interpreting DNT signals is adopted.
